5 years ago, a young pioneer from Colorado established a small self-sustaining organic farm in the mountains of La Florida.
As part of his plan, he created a community garden on the grounds of the local elementary school. This garden provides nourishing foods for the school’s cafeteria while also allowing schoolchildren to develop new organic farming skills.
Local farmers quickly took an interest in this schoolyard garden and began to volunteer their time and resources to assist in its growth and development. Through participation, these farmers also learned new organic farming techniques.
Now, only five years later, many of the local farmers are growing organic produce and local landowners are participating in large-scale reforestation projects.
